We are your ideal partner, especially for small quantities and the production of prototypes.
Torision springs are also known as clock spring or leg springs. This special type of spring is required whenever a torque needs to be generated in a device. Alternatively, the torsion spring is used to accumulate rotational energy. As can already be seen from these two application examples, this type of spring is a mechanical energy accumulator. When the spring is tense, it absorbs the torque through a rotary or angular movement through its legs and through tension. The delivery takes place at the moment of relaxation in the same way.
Spring steel wire is used to manufacture torsion springs. This is given the desired shape mainly in the cold forming process. When calculating the required tension, the position and length of the legs deserve special attention. Because although the deflection of the legs can take place both in the radial direction inwards and outwards or straight tangentially, the deflection of the legs itself affects the spring force. This increases with the length of the leg and the distance from the point of force application to the spring body.
The form spring is always a custom-made product for a previously defined area of application. This ranges from mechanical engineering to precision engineering and electrical engineering. Molded springs serve a wide variety of functions. As a storage element, they balance paths and forces, while they serve as a measuring element in torque and force sensors. The production of shaped springs, which are mainly made from high-quality spring sheet metal, requires many years of experience and in-depth knowledge.
The special features of shaped springs include the wide range of applications and the equally diverse geometry of this type of spring. Since this is exclusively a custom-made product, the construction ranges from the uncomplicated flat form spring to the spring that is precisely adapted to a component.
Leg springs, also known as torsion or clock spring, are extremely flexible and can be easily adapted to a wide variety of requirements. This type of spring is used whenever a device needs to absorb torque or rotational energy. The spring, which is attached to the moving axis and is usually cylindrical in shape, absorbs the energy via the legs, which are predominantly discharged radially, tangentially, axially or parallel to the axis, and then releases it again.
Torsion springs are made of high-quality spring steel wire, which is cold-formed into the required, mostly cylindrical shape. DIN 2194 specifies in detail which manufacturing tolerances and quality grades serve as specifications in the production of torsion springs.
