The spring with a kinked characteristic curve is a special type of compression spring. Different gradients within the spring combine areas with a soft and hard characteristic in a single component.
The areas that exhibit a soft characteristic curve deflect first (large displacement, small force). Towards the end of the stroke, the hard areas of the spring also start to work (small travel, large force).
In this way, functionally integrated components can be implemented, which initially allow a large movement and at the end of the stroke dampen a mass over a short distance.
